The remodeling of this project was intended to turn an outdated and yet beautiful site immersed in nature into a modern, bucolic and rustic site for wedding ceremonies and receptions.
Many weddings happened here while we were working on the remodeling of the guest rooms, spa, restaurant and pathways. Various other celebrations took place, such as Luau festivities, 4th of July parties, Thanksgiving dinners and Birthday parties.
However, internal disagreements between management and the various owners, put this project to a complete halt.

While I was designing the new entry landscape along with other areas at the Portofino Inn & Spa, I was contracted a few times to design wedding receptions and other events.
Enjoy some photos of those events.
During the same time, while I was designing for the Portofino Inn & Spa,
I had also the opportunity to write an article for the Monterey Peninsula Herald, on the history of this beautiful site.
I had the honor of interviewing the original owner Mrs. Porter who in 1948, soon after WWII, together with her husband Mr. Porter built this playground for adults.
Enjoy my article.
